It's over

My hiatus, I mean. I'm coming back.

Actually, I've been working on coming back for quite a while now, but posted my progress updates only on Darknest so far.


So here's the gist!

I switched from 3ds Max to Maya, which worked out nicely.
I want to continue making WoW-porn and possibly other games as well.
Before doing any animations, I want a solid set of races rigged and ready to go.
Four races are finished, but I want to finish at least two or three more before animating.
Commissions will happen, but I don't know when and how yet.
Patreon will possibly be a thing at some point.

    2. Well most in the digital smut scene seem to have one as well as or a blog to keep regular updates, but i guess your current blog is enough for you captain. Oooo while im here, how would the models from the upcoming street fighter 5 appeal to you, no one really does any street fighter smut, will ellowas perhaps make my wishes come true one day ....pwwweeeaase =D ?

    3. I would consider adding a tumblr, if it offers anything this blog doesn't. I'm not familiar with the tumblr scene or any of the social network shenanigans it comes with. That's why I asked why you suggested it. 'Cause everyone else is doing it' is not a good enough reason :p

      Sorry, I don't think I'll ever make Street Fighter porn. I don't find the characters very appealing for that.

    4. sad sad face =(. i guess in terms of the social networking thing it all depends how you want your stuff to be presented on the screen, some tumblrs are clean and easy to follow, others are a complete mess because of the layout the person has chosen. i only have it to follow various smut folk and thats about it.

  2. No way! I kept checking on this blog every now and then, sure you'd return some day and here you are! These rigs look better than any other I've ever seen before, can't wait to see more of your work. Had quite enough of sloppy SFM crap, calling themselves "animators", ha! Show 'em how it's done!

      I think people could do some really great stuff with SFM if they would just stop regurgitating other's work and start doing some stuff on their own. You see the same terribly rigged, skinned and edited models with the same slapped on penis and the same cumshot-effect everywhere you look.

VERY true captain. you might like SNIP's work though, it is very reminiscent of your older softcore days. very erotic and sensual =). by the way, seen as you have been hiding in your man cave and studying maya for a while now, whats your opinion on the popular folk such as REXX and studiofow ?

    3. I'm not saying there aren't some very talented SFM animators around, there certainly are. I just think that the majority goes the easy route by grabbing what someone else already has uploaded somewhere and just go to town without ever improving.

      I think very highly of Rexx and his work. His stuff was what actually brought me to Darknest and got the ball rolling.

      That WoW thing is the only work from StudioFOW I ever saw, so I can't really say much about them. From what I saw, my criticism above definitely doesn't apply to them. The quality of the animation, cinematography and the sheer scope of their projects are really impressive.
      However, I can't help but think that their team is a melting pot of all sorts of characters ... on the one hand you have dancing scouts, on the other hand, porn that takes itself so seriously, it's cringy.

    4. Most in the SFM smut community just hash a loop together for sure. Some of them go on to improve their skills but many don't i feel. Rexx has improved greatly since his early days. His animations are smooth and with the recently updated wow models and his own fine touches he really does have some clean solid material indeed. Studiofow do openly admit that they are into the hardcore hentai side of things so it is no wonder they go so serious, the japanese like it crazy and out of whack after all =D hehe.

    3. I quit wow too in jan and have no desire to go back. the last expansion was a real drag and legion has not exactly got me all fluffed up ether. time will tell i guess =)

    4. The RPS-review of WoD put my feelings about modern Blizzard's games spot on into words, by saying that it doesn't feel polished, but rather lubricated.
      Hate me all you want for saying this, but WoW has become too dumbed down and casual.

    5. I began playing at its peak during the wrath of the lich king release back in 2008, and even though i myself was a casual player ill admit that it has become FAR TOO casual. The final turning point for me to quit was.......(takes a deep breath)...the garrisons. DEAR GOD that was one of the most lazy ass features they ever invented. Oh by the way, i am curious as to what was the turning point for you to finally say ''screw it im moving over to maya''?. i assume it was a time of immense animation frustration yeah =) ?

    6. I was unsatisfied with Max' rigging capablities, cause I wasn't able to get clean shoulder and leg deformations. Looking back now, I realize that I was to blame for that, not 3ds Max :X

    7. You dumb dumb =P. Oh by the way, i noticed 2 of your animations have had sound added. first off, me being a bit of an audio expert myself im very impressed with his efforts. good syncing and choice of sounds to match the scene. who is the guy responsible may i ask captain ?

  16. How did you add physics to the breast, was it in 3ds or maya, its most incredible and any animators/riggers dream to do it that well, if you dont mind spilling a secret?

    1. It was done in Maya by converting a simplified version of the chest to nCloth, pick the simulation up with a wrap deformer and then feed it back into the final mesh as a blendshape.
      However, manual keyframing of the breasts yields better results than dynamics. That Widowmaker animation is all keyframes with only 0-30% nCloth blended in for a little bit of variation.

    2. Will you be sharing the Maya file once you are done with the Draenei Rig? It would be fun to make animations with it. I tried downloading your FBX of Windowmaker but it didn't go into Maya 2015 with all the nodes or controls you made, only a Global control, joints and the Mesh.
